1921 North Dakota recall

The 1921 North Dakota Recall was a recall election of North Dakota Governor Lynn Frazier in 1921. Frazier was recalled over a dispute about the state-owned Bank of North Dakota and State Mill and Elevator. In North Dakota, the governor, attorney general and state agriculture commissioner make up an Industrial Commission, which acts as a board of directors for the state-owned entities. Frazier was recalled as governor, along with the attorney general and agriculture commissioner at the time. Ragnvald A. Nestos was elected governor in the recall election. Frazier was the first American governor ever successfully recalled from office; there would not be another successful recall of a governor until California Gov. Gray Davis was recalled and replaced by Arnold Schwarzenegger in October 2003 (see 2003 California recall).
