2nd Bundesliga (ice hockey)

The 2. Eishockey-Bundesliga (sometimes known as ASSTEL-Bundesliga for sponsorship reasons) is in Germany the second division in the sport of Ice hockey. It is organised by the ice hockey franchises. In the 2005/06 season, it featured 14 teams.

For the first time to the 1973/74 season the second division of German ice-hockey was named the 2nd Bundesliga

  • 1973/74 up until 1980/81 there was a single conference 2nd Bundesliga
  • 1981/82 divided into two conferences: 2nd Bundesliga Süd (south) and Nord (north)
