Academia del Perpetuo Socorro ("Academy of Our Lady of Perpetual Help") was founded in 1921 as a Catholic parochial school pertaining to the Perpetuo Socorro Parish at the Archidiocese of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The school is located in Miramar, a suburb of San Juan. The current principal is Sister Armand Marie Ayala SSND. Students, teachers and alumni commonly refer to their school as Perpetuo.
It is considered a college prep school, since 100% of graduates go on to pursue college degrees. Around 50-70% of them study outside of the island, mainly in the United States. Many of them attend top-ranked colleges and universities.
Perpetuo provides academic instruction in Math, Sciences, History, English, Spanish, and Religion. It also provides a wide variety of athletic intercollegiate teams for its students as well as strong academic teams, specifically its Math, Model UN, Forensics, High School Choir, Drama Club and History teams. Academia del Perpetuo Socorro also has a very complete program in the Earth Sciences, offering Geodynamical Physics I and II, and a research course in Astronomy and Meteorology offered by meteorologist Professor Miguel Alonso. Perpetuo offers a very specialized advanced science program including Honors Biology II, and Honors Chemistry II, like few other high school institutions.
Perpetuo counts with 42 organized clubs, a varsity program in ten sports (volleyball, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, softball, soccer, indoor soccer, cross-country , track & field, swimming), three student publications, and a Student Council. Qualified students are selected as National Honor Society and Honor Academy members.
Recent victories achieved by the school during the current school year (2005-2006) include winning 5 out of 8 categories during the Intercollegiate League of History and Geography's annual competition. Another victory was achieved at the Regional Archidiocesan Science Fair in which the school won 1st place overall and managed to send 2 students to the Intel ISEF Science Fair to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The goal of the educational apostolate at Academia del Perpetuo Socorro is the complete development of the student - spiritually, mentally, morally, socially, culturally, and physically in order to live a full life and to prepare for his/her final goal - union with God. To this end, we work to create a Catholic academic community in which faith, knowledge, and recreation are shared in a spirit of freedom, love, and creativity. '
"Esto Perpetua" translated as "Be everlasting" stressing how the values and learning learned in this school are to be infused with individuals and society as eternal values. Some consider this motto as a reference to how the school's positive influence shall last for eternity.
