Adrian Smith is one of the most recognized architects in the world[1]. His work includes several major skyscrapers, including what will become officially the tallest building in the world upon its completion, the Burj Dubai (its construction height surpassed all other buildings in July 2007).
The following is a list of skyscrapers he has helped design[2]:
- Burj Dubai, Dubai, UAE
- United Gulf Bank Building, Manamah, Bahrain
- Rowes Wharf, Boston, Massachusetts
- 10 Fleet Place, London, UK
- AT&T Corporate Center, Chicago, Illinois
- Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai, China
- Trump International Hotel and Tower, Chicago, Illinois
- Pearl River Tower, Guangzhou, China
- NBC Tower, Chicago, Illinois
Smith began his career at the Chicago firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, and worked there for several decades. In October 2006 he left the firm to start his own independent practice, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, with another former SOM architect, Gordon Gill[3]. The Trump Tower, Chicago and Burj Dubai are still under construction and Smith continues to be involved in those projects.
