African Grey Parrot Subspecies

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Timneh African grey parrot is a smaller cousin of the Congo African Grey. As the name suggests this psittacidae(True parrots) originates in Africa. It is about two thirds the size of a Congo African Grey and is much darker. Its feathering is compared as charcoal grey to a silvery grey of the Congo. The tail is maroon red and the beak is partially bone colored, while the Congo has a red tail and an entirely black beak.

The timneh is much less expensive to purchase that its cousin, probably due to it being smaller and less popular. It is approximately 1 foot long and compatible with no other species of parrot except possibly members of the genus Amazona.
