Ahmad Rushdi

Ahmad Rushdi was a famous Pakistani film singer of the 1960s, and 1970s. He was born in 1938 in a middle class, respectable family in Hyderabad Deccan, India. He migrated to Pakistan soon after independence. He was a top playback singer and most popular among the young music fans. He started his show biz career as a stage actor in [[1952]. where he also sung his first song in film Ibrat. He migrated to Pakistan in 1954 and joined Radio Pakistan, Karachi. He was honoured to sing The National Anthem of Pakistan with other ten singers in 1955. His first superhit song on Radio was: Bandar Road se Kemari, meri chali re Ghorha Garhi....

Ahmad Rushdi's first film as playback singer was Karnama but Anokhi was first released film. He got breakthroug from Lahore made film Speran in 1961 and film Mehtab's song Gol Gappe wala aya, gol gappe laya was his first mega hit song. His last film as playback singer was Mashiq-o-Maghrib released in 1986 after three years of his death. Ahmad Rushdi regards as an Urdu folk singer in the Urdu-speaking area's. He was died on April 11, 1983.
