Air Asia Flight 104, a Boeing 737 plying the route between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu over-ran the runway while landing at the Kota Kinabalu airport. This occurred at 1730 local time (1130 GMT). Two passengers were injured.

Five take-offs had to be rescheduled and five in-bound flights from Kuala Lumpur were diverted to the Sandakan airport.

This occurred three weeks before Air Asia's Initial Public Offering (IPO) on November 22, 2004.
