Ajlun (alternative spelling Ajloun) (Arabic: عجلون) is one of the governorates of Jordan, located north of Amman the capital of Jordan.

Ajlun is divided into 2 nahias (areas or sides):

  • 1. Ajlun
  • 2. Kofranjah

Ajlun is one of the most beautiful cities in Jordan, and is famous for its castle, also known as "Qala'at Al- Rabad". The castle was built as a garrison to protect Ajlun strategic geography from the crusaders. After the Crusades, the castle became home for the families (most noted the Rabadi family) who lived in the vicinity of the castle.

Ajlun is known for its high elevation, which makes it one of the coolest cities in Jordan, with average maximum temperature during January 8.2, and minimum average temperature 2.8. Snow is a common type of precipitation in the winter, due to that Ajlon city is will prepared to face winter.
