"All I Want" was the first single off of The Offspring's 1997 album Ixnay On The Hombre. It reached #31 in the UK and #15 in Australia. The song was also featured in the video game Crazy Taxi as well as the computer game Jugular Street Luge Racing.
It was first made as a "Bad Religion-song writing competition" with bands from Epitaph Records. That song got the name Protocol. However, when Dexter offered to play it for Bad Religion, Brett Gurewitz told him to play it on acoustic later, which "made Dexter feel kind of rejected," so the lyrics were changed and it was used by The Offspring themselves.

The band made a video for the song, which was directed by David Yow of The Jesus Lizard.
The video consisted of shots of the band playing and singing the song mixed with a young man seemingly rebelling against society. While the band is shown the video is often in psychedelic colours. The man takes his clothes off down to his jeans while running through his town. At the end of the video he arrives in a field, and falls in a puddle of mud.
While not charting so high compared to Come Out and Play, or Self Esteem, the song helped to establish strong sales for Ixnay on the Hombre and is a firm fan favourite. It is nearly always played in the band's live shows.
Since All I Want, short, fast songs have appeared in every album by The Offspring since. Americana had No Brakes, Conspiracy of One had All Along, and Splinter had Da Hui. None were released as singles nor have had the same sort of popularity as All I Want, but The Offspring seem to have made a point of having at least one on each album since this song. The song also appeared in sega's Crazy Taxi.
All I Want is also the highest rated single by The Offspring on Rate Your Music [1].
