All Saints College, Maitland
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
All Saints College in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia, is a Catholic secondary school regarded as the foremost in the area. Founded by the Dominican Sisters and originally a boarding school, it is now recognised as a key educational institution.
The school is recognised for its controversial "four-day week" in which students attend school for longer hours every weekday except Wednesday, which is left for leisure, TAFE courses, sporting ventures, extra-curricular activity or part-time work. This layout has recently been put into place at other educational institutions across the state. The school has a high success rate in many areas; its sporting teams can be seen at regional and state level or higher, and many courses score consistently above the state average.
The Campus also preaches a "four cornerstone" ideology. It also has gained recognition for its leadership program in which there is no single individual as captain but rather a team of leaders allowing for a greater amount to be achieved for the student body by 15 elected individuals. Its charity ventures are recognised throughout the community as powerful examples of how adolescents are capable of great things.
