The American Comedy Awards were a group of awards presented annually since 1987 to honor performances and performers in the field of comedy. The last ACA ceremony was held in 2001 under the control of the cable network Comedy Central. Since the ACA's demise, they have been replaced by the network's own awards, the Commie Awards.

Awards were given in the following categories:

  • Funniest Female/Male Performer In A Television Series (Leading Role)
  • Funniest Female/Male Performer In A Television Special
  • Funniest Actress/Actor In A Motion Picture (Leading Role)
  • Funniest Supporting Female/Male In A Television Series
  • Funniest Supporting Actress/Actor In A Motion Picture
  • Funniest Female/Male Guest Appearance In A Television Series
  • Funniest Television Series
  • Funniest Animated Television Series
  • Funniest Motion Picture
  • Viewers' Choice Stand-Up Comic Award - Female/Male.

Previous winners include Rodney Dangerfield, Bette Midler, Woody Allen, Dennis Farina, John Pinette, and Carrot Top.
