Amma

Amma has several meanings:
- Amma means mother in all Dravidian languages. In most malayalam dialects excluding the Trivandrum and few pockets of Kochi and Thrissur dialects, Ammee is used when trying to get the attention of one's mother. It is also used to address elderly women as a sign of respect.
- Mata Amritanandamayi is popularly known as Amma
- J. Jayalalitha, a Tamil Nadu politician, is also popularly known by her supporters as Amma
- Amma means mother in Sinhalese, Bengali, Malayalam, Korean, and some Sino-Tibetan languages
- Amma means grandmother in the Icelandic language.
- Fonio for Amma, the supreme creator according to the Dogon people of Mali
- Ríg for Amma the ancestress of the thralls or serfs in Norse mythology
