Hankha (Thai: หันคา) is a district (Amphoe) in the southwestern part of Chainat Province, central Thailand.

Contents

Originally the district was named Ban Chian after the name of the central tambon. In 1927 the district office was moved to Hankha market, and in 1939 the district name was changed accordingly to Hankha.[1]

Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Nong Mamong, Wat Sing, Mueang Chainat and Sankhaburi of Chainat Province, Doem Bang Nang Buat of Suphanburi Province, Noen Kham of Chainat Province again and Ban Rai of Uthai Thani Province.

The important water resource is the Tha Chin River.

The district is subdivided into 8 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdivided into 99 villages (muban). There are two townships (thesaban tambon) - Hankha and Sam Ngam Tha Bot each cover parts of the same-named tambon. There are further 8 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
