Wat Phleng (Thai: วัดเพลง) is a district (Amphoe) of Ratchaburi Province, central Thailand.

Contents

In the past, the district was called Wat Pradu district because the office was located in front of Wat Pradu, Wat Pradu canal. When the district office was moved to the present area, the district name was changed to be Maenam Om district. Later the government moved the district office of Maenam Om to Tambon Pak Tho, which was easier accessible as it was near the railway station. Subsequently the old area was downgraded to Wat Phleng minor district (King Amphoe). It was upgraded to a full district again on July 17th, 1973.

Neighboring districts are (from the southwest clockwise) Pak Tho, Mueang Ratchaburi of Ratchaburi Province, Bang Khonthi and Amphawa of Samut Songkhram Province.

The important water resource is the Khwae Om River, a branch of the Mae Klong River.

The district is subdivided into 3 communes (tambon), which are further subdivided into 28 villages (muban). The township (thesaban tambon) Wat Phleng covers parts of the tambon Eat Phleng and Ko San Phra. There are further 3 Tambon administrative organizations.
