Ashton Anchors

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ashton Anchors is a character that appears in the Star Ocean video game series, as well as the anime Star Ocean EX. Within the video game series, Ashton Anchors appears in Star Ocean: The Second Story for the PlayStation console and Star Ocean: Blue Sphere for the Game Boy Color handheld. He has a distinctive appearance, holding twin shortswords and sporting twin dragon heads sprouting from his back. He is described by the Second Story manual as a "Heraldic Fencer." In the game "Heraldry" is synonymous with magic.

Ashton's physical appearance is neither natural nor voluntary. Ashton bears these dragon heads as the unwanted after-effect of an encounter with a two-headed demon dragon which possessed him at an inopportune moment. Ashton feverishly seeks to cure his malady, which would most likely kill the demon dragon, but eventually gives in and allows them to live when he admits that the unusual ailment has actually led him to meet friends (the other supporting characters in Star Ocean: The Second Story and Star Ocean EX).

Against Ashton's protestation, character Rena Lanford names the blue dragon Ururun (or "Weepy") and the red dragon Gyoro (or "Poppy"), supposedly to describe their eyes. The two nicknames hold steady.

As a running gag for the character, Ashton has a strange, unexplained obsession with barrels. He is also repeatedly described and portrayed as an incredibly unlucky individual.
