Andres Narvasa

Andres Narvasa (born November 30, 1928) was the Chief Justice of the Philippines from December 1, 1991 to November 30, 1998.
He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas, and placed second in the 1951 Bar Examinations. A professor and later, Dean of UST Faculty of Civil Law, he later became the general counsel for the Agrava Commission tasked to investigate the death of former senator and staunch Marcos critic Benigno Aquino, Jr. As general counsel, he meticulously pieced together evidence to point out the military in the Aquino - Galman murders.
President Corazon Aquino appointed him as associate justice of the Philippine Supreme Court on April 10, 1986.
After his retirement, he became the lead counsel for Joseph Estrada in his impeachment proceedings before the senate.
His son, Chito Narvasa, was once a coach in the Philippine Basketball Association for the now disbanded Shell team.
