Ankle monitor

An ankle monitor is a device that individuals under house arrest are often required to wear. In timed intervals, the ankle monitor sends a GPS signal to a receiver. If an offender wanders outside his or her allowed range, the police will be notified. Ankle monitors are designed to be tamper-resistant and can often alert police to tampering attempts.

Martha Stewart was required to wear an ankle monitor after she was released from jail.
