Anna Maria Horsford (born March 6, 1948) is an American television and film actress known for her role as Thelma Frye on the sitcom Amen.

Horsford was born in Harlem, New York to a Santa Domingan father and an Antiguan mother. She attended Manhattan's School of Performing Arts, where she studied and perfected her acting abilitites. Her first major role on television was portraying the character of Clara Jones on the television soap opera, Guiding Light in 1979.

Horsford has made several guest appearances in sitcoms such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sparks, Moesha,The Bernie Mac Show, and Girlfriends. She had prominent role on the sitcom The Wayans Bros, where she played Dee Baxter. More recently she was seen in the first season of Grey's Anatomy, portraying the ailing former scrub nurse of Dr. Ellis Grey (Meredith Grey's mother).

Horsford also made an appearance in the 1980s cult classic film St. Elmo's Fire, playing a prostitute that propositions the character played by Andrew McCarthy.
