Anna Massey

Anna Massey, CBE (born August 11, 1937) is a British actress.

She was born in Thakeham, West Sussex, England, the daughter of actor, Raymond Massey. Her late brother, Daniel Massey, also went into acting. She is a niece of Vincent Massey, a Governor General of Canada.

Anna Massey made her film debut in 1958, and in 1960 appeared in Michael Powell's Peeping Tom. In 1972 she appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy, but she has become better known as a television actress, appearing in classic dramas such as The Pallisers in (1974), the 1978 adaptation of Rebecca (in which she starred along with her ex-husband, Jeremy Brett) and The Mayor of Casterbridge (1978). She is the narrator of This Sceptred Isle on BBC Radio.

In the New Year's Honours List published 31 December 2004 she was created a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to Drama.
