Another Day is the second track and the first single from the Dream Theater album Images and Words. It is also featured on the Japanese version of the Live at the Marquee CD, the Live Scenes from New York CD and the Images and Words: Live in Tokyo DVD. The lyrics were written entirely by John Petrucci and refer to his father's struggle with cancer. Jay Beckenstein, from the band Spyro Gyra and owner of BearTracks studios where the album was recorded, plays soprano saxophone on this song. For the ending, he has recorded eight takes, all of them improvised, one of which was chosen to be featured on the song.[1]
The band originally thought that the song could have been a big hit, but surprisingly Pull Me Under gained more airplay.
