Antoine Vermette(born July 20, 1982) is a National Hockey League player from St-Agapit, Quebec.

Vermette was acquired by the Ottawa Senators in the second round of the 2000 draft. He made his professional debut in the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators and moved to the NHL's Ottawa Senators for the 2003 - 2004 season. As of 2005, Vermette is a playing for the Ottawa Senators, wearing number twenty.

A natural centre, Vermette is often moved to the left wing as Ottawa has a number of centres. He is the only Francophone on the Ottawa Senators team, thus strengthening his relations with Francophone Senators fans. He is known mainly for his speed, great penalty killing, and driving to the net. On the 30th of December, Vermette suffered a hip injury while playing the Toronto Maple Leafs. He missed action in five games before returning on the 11th of January. Vermette made his immediate presence felt, scoring a goal and an assist that night versus the Rangers and the next game also scoring a goal.

Vermette has also participated in many advertising campaigns, including the "Shut Out Impaired Driving" campaign where he was in both English and French commercials.

On July 18th, 2006, Vermette signed a new two-year contract with the Senators, who agreed to pay him $925,000 in 2006-07 and $1,075,000 in 2007-08.

Vermette is part of an offensive penalty killing unit that is arguably the best in the league. He scored 21 goals in the 2005-2006 season and many of them were shorthanded. Vermette uses a combination of speed and puck control to be a very good asset to have on an ice hockey team.

In the 2006-07 season, Vermette scored a highlight reel goal at home against Tampa Bay in early December. That goal would turn out to be TSN's number 9 top play of the year, a between-the-legs goal against goalie Marc Denis. Coincidentally, the same move was done in another hockey league, which was between-the-legs also.

On February 4, the day of the Senators' superskills competition, he achieved the first place spot in the accuracy portion of the competition, hitting all 4 targets in just 4 shots. [1]
