In the fictional Gundam universe, at the end of Zeta Gundam, the Axis Zeon seize the opportunity to restore the Principality of Zeon. Adopting the name Neo-Zeon, and under the leadership of Haman Karn, the Neo-Zeon movement aims to retake the colonies from the Earth Federation. The only remaining groups who have the manpower and resources to fight the Neo Zeon are the Karaba, who now have possession of the badly damaged Argama, and the AEUG.

When the AEUG's leaders returned to space, they discovered that Anahiem Electronics had been building them a new ship, named the Nahel Argama. The Nahel Argama is an improvement over the Argama is nearly every sense: the ship had more MS room, more launching facilities, and additional firepower. When the AEUG leadership decided not to use it against the Neo-Zeon, several young AEUG pilots banded together and commandeered it (with the unofficial blessing of Captain Bright Noa), nominating Beecha Oleg as an acting captain. The Nahel Argama was then flown into Side 3's territory, where it saw action against the Neo-Zeon.

It is occasionally incorrectly translated "Near Argama" or "Nehru Argama". In addition, Argama is often translated Agama or Ahgama.
