Armenian Premier League

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Armenian Premier League is the top football competition in Armenia. Since 1992, it has been organized by the Football Federation of Armenia. From 1936 to 1991, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the USSR. For the first three years the season ran from spring to fall, but since the 1995-1996 season has run from summer to spring. The league currently consists of eight teams, and relegates to the Armenian First League. Over the years, the league has evolved from a small league consisting of only eight teams to two divisions.
