  1. Arrondissement of Château-Thierry, (subprefecture: Château-Thierry) with 5 cantons and 123 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 66,077 in 1990, and was 68,570 in 1999, an increase of 3.77%.
  2. Arrondissement of Laon, (prefecture of the Aisne department: Laon) with 13 cantons and 278 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 163,625 in 1990, and was 162,873 in 1999, a decrease of 0.46%.
  3. Arrondissement of Saint-Quentin, (subprefecture: Saint-Quentin, Aisne) with 9 cantons and 126 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 137,621 in 1990, and was 134,597 in 1999, a decrease of 2.2%.
  4. Arrondissement of Soissons, (subprefecture: Soissons) with 7 cantons and 159 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 99,362 in 1990, and was 100,627 in 1999, an increase of 1.27%.
