ARTISTdirect, Inc. is a digital media entertainment company that is home to an online music network consisting of its main site, ARTISTdirect.com, as well as UBL.com, Loserkids.com, and the ARTISTdirect Network, a group of affiliate websites offering multimedia content, music news and information, communities organized around shared music interests, music-related specialty commerce and digital music services.

Founded in 1994, ARTISTdirect began as an online music retailer and distribution company, and home to the Ultimate Band List (UBL), a comprehensive database with information on over 600,000 artists, concerts, record labels, and other music-related resources. In 1997, it partnered with the band blink-182 to create Loserkids.com, an online store and community site for fans of the music and fashion of cutting-edge alt-rock, punk, metal and hard rock artists.

Following a period of restructuring, ARTISTdirect re-emerged in the early '00s as a comprehensive music and entertainment portal combining the exhaustive database of the Ultimate Band List with thousands of free audio and video streams, music news, feature content, album reviews, movie trailers and more. It is also home to a full-service "Superstore" featuring merchandise from top brands like Hurley, Dickies, Ben Sherman and more, and leading artists like Britney Spears, Linkin Park, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne and others.

In 2005, ARTISTdirect re-launched the UBL.com site as "the ultimate online destination for independent and unsigned bands, their fans, and the music lovers and industry insiders who want to discover them."

According to Media Metrix, the ARTISTdirect Network averages 43 million Uniques and 613 million page views per month (worldwide numbers - April 06).
