Ashanti is the self-titled debut album by American R&B/pop singer Ashanti, released in 2002 (see 2002 in music). The album goes in an order as if it were a television series about Ashanti and her love life. The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 selling over 503,000 copies in its first week—the largest first-weeks sales by a new female artist. It sold over three million copies in U.S. and over four million copies worldwide. Also, it earned Ashanti a Grammy Award for "Best Contemporary R&B Album" in 2003.
