Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The role of the Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians (ACS) is to promote and encourage research into the statistical and historical aspects of cricket throughout the world (at all levels) and to publish the findings. The Association is based in Cardiff at the Glamorgan CCC cricket ground at Sophia Gardens.[1]
To assist statistical research, the ACS has worked hard over the years to compile details of all first-class cricket matches and List A limited overs matches. Although the Association has no formal responsibility in respect of the status of matches it is generally regarded as being the best independent source of advice when questions over match status are raised. The International Cricket Council has sought the views of the ACS on match status issues for Test cricket and One Day Internationals. For example the ACS advised that the ICC Super Series international matches held in October 2005 should not be accorded either Test match or official ODI status as they were not played between national teams. The ICC ignored the ACS's advice on this matter.
