The Australian Under 20's football (soccer) team, more commonly known as the Young Socceroos, is controlled by Football Federation Australia and represents Australia in international Under 20's or youth football competitions. The young Socceroos are widely known for causing huge upsets, most notably in the 1981 World Youth tournament held in Australia where the major underdog pulled off the upset of the year to beat Argentina 2-1. The Young Socceroos are second only to Brazil in terms of the number of qualifications for the World tournament-12 out of 16 entries, although probably the most highly-rated of all the teams produced failed in the first Asian Confed. campaign in 2006, although most blamed poor coaching of the coach of the time, who has since been ousted from the post by FFA Technical Director Rob Baan, coach of the Australian Under-23's. The majority of current full internationals have played for the Young Socceroos, most notably former Leeds United FC and current Liverpool FC star Harry Kewell.
