Ayase, Kanagawa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ayase (綾瀬市 Ayase-shi?) is a city located in Kanagawa, Japan.
As of 2003, the ward has an estimated population of 81,875 and the density of 3,674.82 persons per km². The total area is 22.28 km².
The city gained a city status on November 1, 1978.
Ayase is home to Naval Air Facility Atsugi, which is one of the key United States military bases on the Kanto plain.
Ayase has no railway stations. (A neighborhood of the same name in Adachi, Tokyo causes confusion.) The only railway that passes through Ayase is the Tōkaidō Shinkansen. Stations near the city include Kashiwadai Station and Sagamino Station (on the Sagami Railway in neighboring Ebina) and Chōgo Station (on the Odakyu Enoshima Line in Fujisawa).
Five numbered prefectural highways crisscross the city. The Tōmei Expressway passes through, and has a highway bus stop in Ayase.
