As BBC Canada is effectively a Canadian channel which merely happens to be partly British-owned, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission's broadcasting regulations require it carry a quota of Canadian content. In addition to BBC programmes, therefore, it also broadcasts Canadian series such as Real Renos, Debbie Travis' Facelift, Holmes on Homes and more. BBC Canada is also prohibited to air newscasts, however BBC World is available in Canada.
BBC Canada is also the only channel in Canada that puts its TV rating on the top-right side of the screen, the opposite of the standard top-left side, as the channel's identifying digital on-screen graphic (DOG) occupies the top-left side, in line with those of several British television channels.
