BBC Radio Devon is the BBC Local Radio service for the English county of Devon. It began transmissions on 17 January 1983, replacing a previous breakfast show (Morning Sou'West) for Devon and Cornwall broadcast on the local frequencies of Radio 4. Since 2004 the weekend opt-out programmes for Plymouth have been joined by a weekday breakfast show for the city - in common with a number of other BBC local stations which have also introduced subregional opt-outs.

Philip Hunt's Sounds of Brass, broadcast every Sunday at 7pm, comes from the Plymouth studios. After 7pm each weekday, local radio in the Spotlight TV news area joins up until 1am. At the weekends, most local BBC radio stations in the entire west have the same programmes from 6pm onwards.

Radio Devon has also been lucky enough to scoop the very popular Dominic Busby for it's breakfast show after his show was axed in the unpopular relaunch of BBC Southern Counties Radio.

Radio Devon is broadcast on the following frequencies from BBC Broadcasting House in Plymouth and St. David's Hill in Exeter (transmitter location in brackets):

Note: AM radio broadcasts often opt-out of the main Radio Devon programming to broadcast coverage of local sports events; for example, Gordon Sparks provides coverage of every Plymouth Argyle league game on the 855kHz (Plymouth) frequency.

Huntshaw Cross mast also has Lantern FM on 96.2FM. Beacon Hill has Gemini FM on 96.4FM. Exeter has Gemini FM on 97FM.

BBC Radio Devon can also be heard online using the RealPlayer media player.
