BBC Radio Orkney is a local opt-out of BBC Radio Scotland for the Orkney Islands, which is based in Kirkwall, Orkney, in Scotland.
There are two broadcasts per day on the BBC Radio Scotland frequency: Around Orkney and Radio Orkney
Around Orkney is a news programme broadcast weekday mornings from 7:30am to 8:00am GMT. The program featues local news, weather, traffic, travel, sport, job opportunities, and every Wednesday there is a 'Postbag' section featuring letters sent in by listeners.
Radio Orkney (also called the evening programme) is a programme broadcast from 6.05 to 7.00pm from Monday-Thursday between the months of October and May. The programme features news, entertainment and music.
Friday Requests is broadcast on a Friday evening throughout the year. The programme is identical in structure to the above mentioned Radio Orkney programme except that it plays music which residents of Orkney have requested through the week via phoning a request line, which is usually dedicated to somebody.
