Barbexaclone (marketed in Italy as Maliasin by Abbott Laboratories) is a salt compound of phenobarbital and propylhexedrine. It was introduced in 1983. It is reported to be as effective as phenobarbital but better tolerated. 100mg of barbexaclone is equivalent to 60mg of phenobarbital. It is not available on prescription in the UK or US.
