Batavia is a village in Clermont County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,617 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Clermont CountyGR6.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²). 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (1.34%) is water.
As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,617 people, 651 households, and 453 families residing in the village. The population density was 427.6/km² (1,105.4/mi²). There were 696 housing units at an average density of 184.1/km² (475.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 94.50% White, 3.28% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 1.55% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.
There were 651 households out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.2% were married couples living together, 13.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% were non-families. 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.96.
In the village the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.5 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $40,804, and the median income for a family was $50,238. Males had a median income of $36,190 versus $25,583 for females. The per capita income for the village was $20,171. About 6.4% of families and 6.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.4% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
The small village is expected to have a minor league baseball team named the Batavia Blaze. [1]

- Batavia is linked to the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks. In 2000, Mohamed Atta purchased flight deck videos for Boeing 747-200 and Boeing 757-200 models from Sporty's Pilot Shop.
- The limestone in the Batavia area contains fosselized crinoid fragments from the mid- to late-Paleozoic period.
- Batavia is home to the Clermont College campus, a branch of the University of Cincinnati.
- Batavia is the home of United States Army SSG Keith Matthew "Matt" Maupin who was captured by insurgents on April 9, 2004 while serving in the Iraq War. Video on Al Jazeera on June 28, 2004 may show his execution, but the Army does not believe this has happened.
