Joseph Robinette "Beau" Biden III (born February 3, 1969) is an American attorney and political figure. He is the Attorney General of Delaware. He is a former federal prosecutor who served in the United States Department of Justice from 1995 to 2002. Since then he has been a partner in the Wilmington law firm of Bifferato, Gentilotti, Biden & Balick.

Biden is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Syracuse University College of Law. He is the son of United States Senator Joe Biden. There is speculation that he might run for his father's Senate seat should Joe Biden run for President of the United States in 2008.^[1]

In November of 2005, Biden announced that he would run for Attorney General of Delaware and quickly established a political team. In the beginning, Delaware political operative Dan Logan and Biden staffer Sarah Gallagher ran his campaign, and in June of 2006, Biden brought in his cousin, Missy Owens, to become campaign manager, taking after his father who has consistently asked his sister, Valerie Biden Owens, Missy's mother, to run his campaigns. Biden's opponent in the fall was veteran state prosecutor Ferris Wharton. Major issues in the campaign included Internet Predators, Sex Offenders, Senior Abuse, Domestic Abuse, and Experience. Wharton, the more experienced of the two candidates, failed to address any of the other issues head on and let Biden run the table, a fatal mistake, criticized by many in his own party. Biden has been noted as an incredible politician, showing more energy than his father, many would say, and is considered much more concise then him, too. The last two weeks of the campaign became the nastiest when Biden began fighting back to Wharton's constant attacks.

In the end Biden came out on top, and won with approx. 53% to Wharton's 47%. Since his election, Biden has made two highly praised appointments, the most notable being his appointment of International Judge Richard Geblein as Chief Deputy Attorney General, a former Attorney General of Delaware, himself. He also appointed former assistant U.S. Attorney Richard G. Andrews to be his state prosecutor. Biden was sworn in as Delaware's Attorney General on January 2, 2007 in a private ceremony due to the National Day of Mourning for Former President Gerald R. Ford. There was a public re-enactment on Wednesday, January 3, 2007.
