A parliamentary election was held in Benin on 31 March 2007, having been delayed from an earlier date of 25 March due to difficulties in organizing it. 26 political parties and alliances took part in the election. The 83 seats in the National Assembly were contested by a total of 2,158 candidates;[1] there were 24 constituencies and 17,487 polling stations.[2]
