Bhagam Bhag (Hindi: भगम भग, Urdu: بھگم بھگ , English: Helter Skelter) is a 2006 Bollywood film starring Akshay Kumar and Govinda. It is the first time the two are in a film together. The movie also stars Lara Dutta, Jackie Shroff, Arbaaz Khan and Paresh Rawal. It is directed by Priyadarshan. Shooting continued in Oxford, United Kingdom in July and August 2006, filming at several University of Oxford landmarks. It released on December 22, 2006.

Famous Physicist Russell Layberry also makes a rare cameo appearance. Bhagam Bhag is a remake of a hit Malayalam comedy called Mannaar Mathai Speaking which was a sequel to Ramji Rao Speaking which was made in Hindi as Hera Pheri. [1] Some plot elements are very similar to Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958), while the climax is nearly identical to that of Stanley Kramer's It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963).

Champak Chaturved (Paresh Rawal) has a theatre group in India and he performs shows all over the country. Bunty (Akshay Kumar) and Babla (Govinda) along with others are actors in the group. Both are very naughty natured guys who never miss any chance to flirt with girls, even the girls in the group. At the completion of one show, an organizer offers Champak's group to perform 30 shows in England. They all get very excited but as per the contract they need to leave for England on the same day. Unfortunately the heroine of the play opts out due to Bunty and Babla's misbehavior.

They reach London, where most of the film is set. Through Gullu (Rajpal Yadav), a taxi driver, Babla and Bunty try to find a girl for their play but it leads to many misunderstandings and a series of funny sequences. In this process, Babla and Bunty fall into trouble involving a drug baron and other mishaps.

Thereafter, the trio discovers a girl Munni (Lara Dutta), who suffers from amnesia to act in their drama and just as Bunty and Munni fall in love, her memory returns and it brings chaos into their lives, including a murdered husband!

From here the story leads to its climax in which a major conspiracy gets exposed.

Bhagam Bhag released to a good response of 60-70% and this quickly rose to 90% [3]. According to indiafm.com, the film has collected 3.21 crores [4]. .

The first reviews of the film have been mixed [5], [6].

  • The film is produced by Sunil Shetty under his production company Popcorn Motion Pictures.
  • Priyadarshan, Sunil Shetty and writer Neeraj Vora were issued a suit by Malayalam director, Mani C Kappan, who directed Mannar Mathai Speaking for copyright issues. Shetty has compensated 75 lacs and has indeed confirmed that this film is a remake of "Mannar Mathai Speaking".[2]

This is a mixed film (Mannar Mathai Speaking + Nadodikkattu + Rakkilippattu (director priyadarshan))
