Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is an electronics company with about nine factories in India. It is owned by the Indian Government & primarily manufactures advanced electronic products for Indian Defence Forces.

BEL is a Public Sector undertaking that was set up in the field of Electronics by the Indian Government to meet Indian defense requirements in 1954.

BEL started in Bangalore in 1954. Initial focus was on valves, Germanium semiconductors and Radars, which evolved over the 1960's and 1970's to include Transmitting Tubes, Silicon Semiconductors, Broadcast equipment, X-Ray Tubes and Defence electronics.
