Bhavadhaarini Anantaraman

Indian Carnatic vocalist Bhavadhaarini Anataraman is one of the senior disciples of D.K. Pattammal. Bhavadhaarini hails from the family of veteran composer Mayuram Vishwanatha Shastry. Born and brought up in a music environ there was a natural environment for her to learn carnatic music.

Her first concert was under the banner of Mookambika Fine Arts at Chennai in 1987. Since then she has been performing at all important sabhas in Chennai during Music Season.

She has also toured all over India to give performances in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka etc. She became a graded artist of All India Radio Chennai in 2002 by winning their nation-wide Competition. She is a recipient of the CCRT fellowship (Center for Cultural Resource and Talent) from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for a period of 9 years from 1990 and Sterling Holidays Scholarship for Vocal Music for a period of 3 years from 1997.

She conducts lecture Demonstrations and Workshops in Music, Musicology and other subjects in schools and colleges.

Bhavadhaarini is now the choice of many music directors based in Chennai including BalaSai, Raghavendra, Rajkumar Bharathy, L.Krishnan, Umashankar, Selvaganesh, Rajhesh Vaidhya, Prapancham Ravindran, Lawrence and others for many Carnatic, Hindustani and Light Classical, Dance Albums, Bhajan Fusion and Devotional albums. Her ability to transcend and sing in many octaves keeps her on a busier recording schedule.

She has directed music and sung many albums inorder to raise funds for the maintenance of temples and consecration ceremonies. Her most recent albums were Sheethala Devi Thiru Andhadhi, Guru Sahasranamam, Kalika Sahasranamam and Durga Sahasranamam etc.

Her sonorous voice and a style that does not assault tradition add glamour to the concert and have been applauded by many.
