Bill Whitney

Willard (Bill) Whitney is an American broadcast journalist for CBS News. He is best known as an anchor and correspondent for the CBS Radio Network, where he hosts the evening edition of the World News Roundup.

Before joining CBS, Whitney worked at a variety of local broadcast outlets. At the age of 17 Whitney began his career in broadcasting. In the years since he worked his way through the ranks at a variety of local radio stations including: WKEN, Dover, WGSM, Huntington, New York, WLIX, Islip, New York and WGBB, Freeport, New York.
From 1979 to 1982 Whitney worked as anchor/news director at WCBS-FM, New York City. He began his employ with CBS in the early 1980s as one of the original anchors for CBS' young-adult oriented news service RadioRadio.
Whitney joined the CBS Radio Network in 1984. During that time he has filled in for Charles Osgood on "The Osgood File" and done commentaries under the "Sidebar" title. He has covered a number of major news stories including Pope John Paul II's U.S. tour and the Balkan peace talks in Dayton which led to the Dayton Accord.
Whitney anchors the CBS World News Roundup--Late Edition and hourly news broadcasts throughout the day, and has served as a substitute anchor for the morning edition of the Roundup.
Whitney lives in Wyckoff, New Jersey with his wife and four daughters Margaret, Alice, Grace and Mary.
