The Birmingham Railway Museum Trust in Birmingham, England operates two subsidiaries: Tyseley Locomotive Works and Vintage Trains. The latter exists to run standard gauge trains in the area, particularly to Stratford-upon-Avon.

The museum was also previously used as a base of operations for Fragonset Railways.

The locomotives currently on site or in the collection are listed below:

  • Steam Locomotives
    • GWR 2-8-0 28xx Class no. 2885. On static display at Birmingham Moor Street station.
    • GWR 2-6-2T 5101 Class no. 4110. Awaiting restoration, which is planned to start soon.
    • GWR 2-6-2T 5101 Class no. 4121. Awaiting restoration.
    • GWR 4-6-0 49xx Hall Class no. 4936 "Kinlet Hall". In mainline service and sometimes used on the Shakespeare Express; a regular visitor to other railways.
    • GWR 4-6-0 49xx Hall Class no. 4953 "Pitchford Hall". In mainline service; sometimes used on the Shakespeare Express.
    • GWR 4-6-0 49xx Hall Class no. 4965 "Rood Ashton Hall". In mainline service, used regularly on the Shakespeare Express.
    • GWR 4-6-0 4073 Castle Class no. 5029 "Nunney Castle". Undergoing a major overhaul; boiler is getting a new front tubeplate and the newly overhauled bogie should be fitted under the frames soon.
    • GWR 4-6-0 4073 Castle Class no. 5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe". Nearing the end of restoration, the boiler has recently passed a steam test. The smokebox door has been painted and will be fitted to the rest of the smokebox soon, the rest of the cab is being finished off and the loco frames and tender frames are being painted – this is expected to be done in 2008. The engine will be a regular on the Shakespeare Express when "Rood Ashton Hall" retires from the main line at the end of 2007.
    • GWR 4-6-0 4073 Castle Class no. 5080 "Defiant". On static display at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre.
    • GWR 4-6-0 60xx King Class no. 6024 "King Edward I". In regular mainline service; the only operational King.
    • GWR 0-6-0PT 57xx Class no. 7752. Awaiting overhaul. May be repainted in 2008 in LT Red livery for use in London.
    • GWR 0-6-0PT 57xx Class no. 7760. On static display awaiting overhaul.
    • GWR 4-6-0 4073 Castle Class no. 7029 "Clun Castle". On static display awaiting overhaul. Work planned to start in 2008.
    • GWR 0-6-0PT 57xx Class no. 9600. Is being stripped down for overhaul.
    • LMS 4-6-0 5XP Jubilee no. 5593 "Kolhapur". Away at Barrow Hill on static display.
    • LMS 4-6-2 8P Princess Coronation no. 46229 "Duchess of Hamilton". Undergoing re-streamlining work for display; not being restored to steamable condition.
    • LNWR 'Bloomer' replica no. 670. Is 89% finished.
    • Avonside 0-4-0T "Cadbury No.1". On static display awaiting overhaul.
    • Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0ST "Henry". On static display awaiting overhaul.
    • Peckett and Sons 0-4-0ST "Percy" no. 2004. Undergoing overhaul.
    • W.G. Bagnall 0-6-0ST "Victor" 2996. Awaiting overhaul.
    • Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn WD 0-6-0ST "Fred" no. 71480 (LNER class J94). Awaiting overhaul.
    • 0-4-0T no. 778. Undergoing overhaul.

    • BR 0-6-0 Class 08 no. 13029 (D3029, 08021). Operational.
    • BR Bo-Bo Class 20 no. 20059 (D8059). Nearly operational.
    • BR Bo-Bo Class 20 no. 20177 (D8177). Source of Spares.
