Bob Daisley

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert "Bob" Daisley (born February 13, 1950) is from Sydney, Australia. He is a legendary hard rock bass guitar playing musician and lyricist who has performed in genres from Rock and Roll to the Blues. He revolutionised bass playing, incorporating a six-string bass guitar and using the "sweep picking" technique to play three octave arpeggios in lightning-fast succession.

Daisley was bassist and lyricist for Ozzy Osbourne on his most successful solo releases of the 1980's. Before the Diary of a Madman tour, Daisley was replaced by Rudy Sarzo. He returned to Ozzy's band for the 1983 Bark At The Moon record and tour. He wrote the material for all of Ozzy's albums up until and including No More Tears. Although he didn't do any of the recording for The Ultimate Sin, most of the material was written by Daisley and Ozzy's guitarist at the time Jake E. Lee. After a lawsuit brought by Daisley for unpaid royalties, his bass tracks were removed from later remasters of Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman albums in 2002. The tracks were re-recorded by Rob Trujillo of Suicidal Tendencies and Metallica fame.

Bob Daisley has also played for the following bands and/or solo artists: Gary Moore, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Mungo Jerry, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Uriah Heep.

In 2003, he fulfilled a project of his in creating a band to remake some classic hard rock albums. Together with Jimmy Barnes, Don Airey, Steve Morse and Lee Kerslake, he formed the band Living Loud.

Daisley recorded a live gig at The Basement in Sydney, Australia, on February 7th, 2003 with Australian blues band The Hoochie Coochie Men, for a live DVD and CD release. Also featured were former Deep Purple organist Jon Lord and Jimmy Barnes.
