Bob Pratt

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bob Pratt (August 31, 1912January 6, 2001) was a former Australian rules footballer.

He played in the VFL from 1930-1939 and again in 1946 with the South Melbourne Football Club, playing 158 games and kicking 681 goals. Considered one of the finest full-forwards ever to play the game, he was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame with Legend status. Known for spectacular diving marks, he represented Coburg in the VFA from 1940 to 1945. In that time he continued his incredible goal scoring record, booting 183 during 1941, including 22 goals in a single game against Sandringham. He shares the VFL/AFL record haul of 150 in a season, and had he stayed at South rather than playing VFA for six years he would have kicked well over 1,000 goals. He is probably the most famous person to come from Mitcham, Victoria. At the time of his death he was the last living member of the Swans 1933 Grand Final team
