Laura supposedly had a drunken fling whilst married to Ian Beale (she stated that she only remembered zipping up Garry's trousers) with Garry Hobbs. Ian had already had a secret vasectomy so he presumed the child wasn't his, and he booted Laura out on Christmas Day, when she was in the early stages of pregnancy.

Garry and Laura made a go of things after Bobby's birth, despite the fact that Laura had discovered that Ian was the father after all (he had sex with Laura within six weeks of having the vasectomy, thus the procedure not in full working mode), but she kept this information to herself.

She and Garry split up when he returned to his wife, Lynne, who was now pregnant with their baby. Laura fell down the stairs of her house and died. Pat Evans set up her arch enemy Janine for Laura's death, seeking revenge for Barry's murder.

Pat found Bobby's birth certificate, stating that Ian is the father of Bobby. Ian moved Bobby in with him, leaving Garry heart-broken, since his and Lynne's baby, Vivian, died shortly after birth.

Bobby now lives with Ian and his girlfriend Jane, and his older half brother and half sister Peter and Lucy, from Ian's first marriage to Cindy Beale.

In 2006, Ian heard that his mother - who lived in South Africa with Ian's half brother Ben - had died in a car crash. Ian went to South Africa and returned in March 2006 with Ben, who initially moved in with the Beale family before making the decision to live with his father, Phil Mitchell. Shortly after Ian and Ben returned, Bobby hurt Freddie Mitchell by poking him in the forehead with a stick. Thankfully Freddie was okay.

  • Bobby was named after football player Bobby Moore.
  • When Bobby lived with Garry, Garry would get him to sleep by singing "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles", the song of football team West Ham
  • Bobby's first word was "dada"; Garry was trying to get him to say this all day and then Bobby saw Ian, who had just found out he was Bobby's dad, and said it.
  • Since Lucy and Peter were replaced with new actors in 2004, Bobby has rarely been seen with them. The whole family (Ian, Jane, Peter, Lucy and Bobby) did not have a scene together before Tuesday 2 May 2006, but have all been shown together since that date.
