Booty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term booty, originally referring to something valuable acquired by force or daring, has acquired a second group of meanings in contemporary slang, especially and originally among African-Americans, in which it refers to the buttocks of a woman, to sexual intercourse, to the female genitals, or to a woman regarded as an object of sexual desire.[1]
The Oxford English Dictionary states that etymologically the slang use of "booty" probably derives from the earlier "botty", a form of "buttocks". The earliest use it cites is from 1926, in the form "boodie" for sexual intercourse. The dictionary further speculates that the meaning of "sexual intercourse" is secondary to the meaning of "buttocks", similar to the way in which slang terms like ass or pussy have acquired the meaning of "sexual intercourse".
The term is used in compound slang terms such as "booty call" (a communication for the purpose of having sex), "booty check" (body cavity check in prison) or "booty bandit" (a male homosexual, especially in prison slang).
