Box Office Mojo is a website that tracks box office revenue in a systematic way. Brandon Gray started the site in August 1998 and claims to now receive over one million monthly visitors. The forums are a popular place for box office "fanatics" and is home to several popular games (Fantasy Box Office and Create A Year of Movies). Tracking is done very close to the day by day, actual tabulation by the distributors. It is possible to see the general trend of a film's "earnings trajectory". Many stories in the general press are centered on the box office data tabulated on the site.[citation needed]
The international section covers the weekly box office of 50 territories and includes historical box office information from three more as well as providing information for box office results for individual movies from up to 107 territories. The site also creates an overall weekend chart, combining all box office returns from around the world, excluding the United States and Canada. The overall weekend chart currently tracks the Top 40 films as well as about fifty additional films with no ranking. The site is run by Conor Bresnan and has been since 1999, but was originated by Box Office Mojo creator Brandon Gray when he tracked the Top 10 results from roughly ten territories.
Box Office Mojo International also reports the release schedule of upcoming movies for Australia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia and the CIS, South Korea, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. The site also has yearly and all time features for its various territories.
Apart from detailing how much money a film has made at the cinema, Box Office Mojo also provides rental grosses every weekend. Statistics are only given from Friday to Sunday.
