Brad Thorn

Bradley Carnegie Thorn (born February 3, 1975 in Mosgiel, New Zealand) is an Australian international rugby league and former New Zealand international rugby union player. He plays rugby league for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League competition and has represented Queensland and Australia (3 test matches). His preferred position in league is second row. In 2000 Thorn was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia's international standing in the sport of rugby league.

After becoming a top level rugby league player with Brisbane (where he started playing in 1994) and later Queensland and Australia, Thorn switched to rugby union, playing for the Canterbury Crusaders. He then went on to play for the New Zealand All Blacks, appearing in 12 tests. Thorn, was one of 4 Queensland State of Origin representatives to play in 2 of the top 3 teams of the 2003 Rugby World Cup (the others being Mat Rogers, Wendell Sailor and Lote Tuqiri, who played for the Wallabies).
In 2004 Thorn returned to the National Rugby League, again playing with the Brisbane Broncos and enjoying further representative selection for Queensland in 2005 and premiership success in 2006.
