Braunton village centre: The building opposite,now a newsagents, was once the village railway station. The tree opposite, which has grown since the line was demolished in the mid-1970s, is on the line of the tracks which crossed the road where the pelican crossing is.

Braunton is situated 4 miles west of Barnstaple in north Devon, and is claimed to be the largest village in England. It is home to the nearby Braunton Great Field, and Braunton Burrows, a nature reserve of world importance.

The village boasts a number of pubs which include "The Agricultural Inn" and "The Williams Arms". There are also a number of churches of various denominations, for example "St. Brannocks Church" serves the Catholic population. The village holds a carnival each year near the end of May.

One of Brauntons other fine attributes is Squires fish restaurant which is by far the best place in the southwest to taste the delicious fresh cod and chips.

Local Schools include Caen Street Primary School which is years 1 through 6, Kingsacre which is also years 1 through 6,Southmead primary also years 1 to 6 and Braunton Community College which is years 7 through 11.

The village had a railway station on the now closed Ilfracombe Branch Line.

The South West Coast Path National Trail] links to the town, and gives access to walks along the spectacular North Devon coast.
