Brazilian Girls are a quartet from New York City known for their eclectic blend of electronic dance music with everything from samba and reggae to house and lounge styles. The band has described their sound as "melting pop." None of the members are actually from Brazil and the only female member is lead singer Sabina Sciubba. Didi Gutman plays keyboards for the band, Aaron Johnston plays the drums and Jesse Murphy plays the bass.

The band released their self titled debut album in 2005 to much critical acclaim, while developing a strong fan base with their energetic live show. Their second album, entitled Talk To La Bomb, was released in September 2006.

The daughter of Italian and German parents, Sciubba was born in Rome and grew up in Munich and Nice. Growing up Sciubba learned to speak German, Spanish, French, Italian and English, which she regularly incorporates into her singing today (all five languages are featured on their debut album).

Sciubba first came to record buyers' attention when she recorded two jazz albums - You Don't Know What Love Is with pianist Chris Anderson and Meet Me in London with guitarist Antonio Forcione, for the English audiophile label Naim.

The band formed in 2003, while jamming at the New York club Nublu. Sciubba described her meeting with the men of Brazilian Girls as "love at first sight and it moved as fast as the Autobahn." While playing a weekly gig at Nublu, the band wrote many of the original songs that would appear on their debut album.

On February 1st, 2005, the band released their self-titled debut. The album was heralded by critics and the band toured throughout 2005, making their television debut on The Jimmy Kimmel Show in March of that year.

In October 2005, the band became one of the first artists to release a video album through iTunes, with "Brazilian Girls: Live in NYC." The video album contains five songs in both audio and video format and is designed to be played through the iPod video. The album was recorded at the Irving Plaza in New York on September 14, 2005.

Brazilian Girls are known for their controversial shows. Lead singer Sabina Sciubba is often smoking marijuana on stage. At a show on December 29 2006 a completely nude woman was visible to the crowd and being painted by a muralist. Also at this show many members of the audience were invited on stage. Sabina was taking their shirts off. Many stripped down to bras and one or two even displayed their breasts. This was a 16 and older show, thus making these activities, as well as the marijuana smoking illegal (the nudity would have been legal at a 18+ show). At a different show in Colorado, she invited members of the audience on stage and made out with a female for over two minutes of the show. She also lets members of the audience sing into her microphone for some songs, most notably, Pussy.
