Brenner (Italian: Brennero; Latin: Brennus) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 110 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 60 km north of the city of Bolzano, on the border with Austria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,075 and an area of 114.1 km².[1]

The municipality of Brenner contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Terme di Brennero (Brennerbad), Gossensaß, Fleres (Pflersch) and Ponticolo (Pontigl).

Brenner borders the following municipalities: Pfitsch, Ratschings, Sterzing, Gries am Brenner (Austria), Gschnitz (Austria), Neustift im Stubaital (Austria) and Obernberg am Brenner (Austria).

The south end of the Brenner Pass is located in this municipality.
